Nina Wyoming Meekins peacefully transitioned on June 11, 2026. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love will remain in our hearts forever. June 30, 1965, marked the beginning of a beautiful life for Nina, the beloved daughter of Queen Elizabeth Meekins (Alphonso) and the late Lewis Edward Reed.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Edward Ross.
Her love and precious memories will live on in her children, Marcella Meekins (Joseph), Jasper Meekins, Alex Meekins, Dreshaun Smith, Carmeshia Smith, Erica Smith, and Niquan Smith, and will be forever surrounded by God’s comfort and peace. She also leaves to cherish her memory her siblings, Debbie Brown (Douglas), Lewis Meekins, Karen Meekins (Raymond), Anthony Meekins, Sharon Lee, Beatrice Phillips,
and Kristie Jones. Her life was also deeply touched by her dear friend Kirkland Smith, who will always hold her memory close.
Nina is also lovingly remembered by her eleven grandchildren, Xshajah, Xzavion, Xziyah, Carleyah, Nyashia, Omarion, Aniyah, Alexeigh, Maylani, Javoni, and Aceyon. She was the proud great-grandmother of six great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She leaves behind a large and loving family, including extended relatives, and many friends who will forever carry her love with them.
Family was the center of her world. She loved deeply and unconditionally, always putting the needs of her loved ones before her own. She was especially known for her delicious spaghetti, a meal that brought family and friends together and created cherished memories. So many people loved her, and her presence will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A service to celebrate Nina’s life will be held at Noon Monday, June 22, 2026, at Chickahominy Baptist Church, with a viewing beginning at 11:00 a.m.
