Paulette Pierce

Paulette Pierce was born to the late James Gaither Sr. and Gracie May James Gaither on October 26, 1949, in York County.  She departed this life on Tuesday, March 30, 2021.

Paulette attended the York County Public Schools and was a well-known member of the Williamsburg York Starletts softball team.  

On October 26, 1970, she was joined in Holy Matrimony to Elijah Pierce Sr.  From this union, three children were born.  

She retired from Embassy Suites by Hilton Hotel.

Paulette is preceded in death by her daughter, Grenette Taylor.  She leaves precious memories with her loving husband of fifty-one years, Elijah Pierce Sr.; daughter, Katrice Brooks (Johnny) of Hampton, VA; son, Elijah Pierce Jr. of Newport News, VA; grandchildren, Richard Taylor, Amir Brooks, and Anisah Brooks; great-grandchild, Amira Brooks; sister, Yvonne Durham of Little Rock, AR; brother, Ronald Gaither of Hampton, VA; special niece, Mrs. Clarissa Y. Simmons (Thomas) of Carrollton, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and loving friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2021, at Whiting’s Funeral Home. Due to the current health pandemic, only 50 people may be in attendance with facial covering and social distance requirements.  Livestream will be available for this service.  Mrs. Pierce may be viewed on Thursday beginning at noon until the hour of her service.
