Pearl Bartlett Obituary

“Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints”.

 Psalm 116:15

Pearl L. Piggott Bartlett, 78, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, in her home surrounded by her loved ones.  Her life began on November 12, 1941, the daughter of the late Randolph and Catherine Braxton, of Williamsburg, VA in the Croaker Community.

She attended Bruton Heights School.  At an early age, she accepted Christ and joined Shiloh Baptist Church where she was a member of the Shiloh Sanctuary Choir, the Hospitality Committee and the Nurses Aides Ministry.  She also served as a Nurses Aide for funerals when asked.

Pearl retired from Eastern State Hospital, after twenty-four years of faithful service as a Psychiatric Charge Aide, working in the Brown Building Hospital Unit.  After retiring due to her illness, she was home and kept busy by watching Soap Operas, Westerns and Jeopardy on a daily basis.  She was an avid Atlanta Braves and New York Yankee’s Baseball fan.  She never missed watching the World Series Baseball Games.  If you would call her during a game, her response would be “I’ll call you back”.

Pearl loved traveling.  She was a past president of the Rainbow Social and Saving’s Club; traveling to different places each year. She always looked forward to her yearly outing with her siblings and in-laws to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

She loved her family and always looked forward to the holidays because she knew she would be surrounded by all of her lovely grandchildren.

Her husband, Clifton Bartlett; four children, Septivia, Veronica, Barron and Michael Piggott; and siblings, Redell Braxton, Russell Braxton, Joseph Braxton and Purcell Braxton, preceded her in death.

Pearl leaves to cherish her precious memories with her children, Sylinda and Constance Piggott, Audrea Fauntleroy (Reginald), and David Piggott Sr. (Karin); daughter-in-law, Judy Davis-Piggott; eleven grandchildren, Shanda, Martine, Eddie, Cassandra, Chiquan, Barron Jr., Latia, David Jr., Matthew, Marcos and Jasmin; eighteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Morris (Walter), Rachel Shearin (Ben) and Sandra Trower; brothers, Herman Braxton (Dianne) and Reginald Braxton; aunt, Emma Bradsby; sisters-in-law, Georgia Braxton, Jackie Braxton-Marrow (George), Thelma Braxton, Rosa Wallace (Freddie), Roberta Dandridge (Howard), Phyllis Williams (Charles) and Mary Ashlock; brothers-in-law, Charles Bartlett, Jesse Bartlett (Joyce), and Fred Bartlett (Colleen); and a host of cousins, other loving relatives and many caring friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2019, in Shiloh Baptist Church, Williamsburg. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.  Family and friends to assemble at the church by 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, in Whiting's Chapel.
