On Tuesday, October 27, 2020, Philip E. Piggott Sr. put on his Heavenly Robe and went to be with the Lord, at home surrounded by his loved ones. His earthly journey began on May 18, 1936, son of the late Carrie and Sylvester Piggott Sr.
Phillip confessed Christ at an early age and joined hands in fellowship with Shiloh Baptist Church, Williamsburg. He was educated at Bruton Heights High School in Williamsburg.
On September 28, 1959, he was joined in Holy Matrimony with the former Deloris Jones. This lovely union was blessed with three beautiful children. On October 31, 2020, God saw fit to reunite the couple together with Him for all eternity.
Phillip retired from the Landscaping Department of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, under the supervision of William Strong. He also worked at Eastern State Hospital for twenty years and BFI for several years.
He was an avid “Dallas Cowboys” fan. He also enjoyed watching Westerns, Judge shows, and “Sandford & Son”. Phillip was a man of great integrity who loved his family.
Phillip was preceded in death by his brothers, Albert, Sylvester Jr, and Temper Piggott Sr.; sisters; Daisy Butler and LouAda Pierce; granddaughter Shantay Smith. He leaves to cherish his memories his son Phillip “Mancake” Piggott Jr.; daughters, Sandra Johnson and Beulah Smith; grandsons, William Smith Jr., Dontay Smith, and Malcolm Lee; two great-grandchildren, Makari Lee and Kai Lee; special loving and devoted sister, Doris Lockley; sister-in-law, Teresa Piggott; close friend, Conrad; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2020, at Williamsburg Memorial Park. Family and friends to assemble at 6111 Mooretown Road by 1:15 p.m. Saturday. Face coverings and Social Distancing are required. You may bring your own lawn chairs for comfort. At the request of the family, there will be no viewing.
