April 21, 1935 ~ November 12, 2023 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Preston Frazier Sr. Obituary

O Tender and sweet was the father's voice
As he lovingly called to me
“Come over the line it's only a step!
I’m waiting my child for thee.”

On Sunday, November 12, 2023, our beloved Preston Frazier was summoned from his earthly toils to eternal rest at Consulate Health Care, Williamsburg, VA.  His life began on April 21, 1935, as the only son born to the late George and Lillian James Frazier.

At an early age, he confessed Christ as his personal Savior and joined Zion Baptist Church. He grew up in a loving home with seven sisters. He retired from Williamsburg Millwork Corporation with more than fifty years of dedicated service. Preston was instrumental in perfecting the implementation of the nail machine which resulted in the company receiving a patent, which remains in use today.

Although Preston’s formal education was limited to the fourth grade, his knowledge was that of a scholar with a college degree!  He could converse about politics, world news, sports, ethics, music, and any other everyday issue you may have had. His many talents included gardening and farming.  He could produce enough food to feed a county, and he graciously shared with family and friends.  “Brother Frazier” or “Brownie,” as he was fondly called by family and friends, was dedicated to the well-being of his family. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is also preceded in death by his sons, Preston Frazier Jr. and Cletis Cowles, his eight sisters, Mary, Novella, Ruth, Mildred, Amanda, Lillian, Lois, and Cynthia, and three grandchildren.

His precious memories will forever remain with his loving wife of fifty-six years, Vivian Frazier; daughters, Alberta Dandridge (Alonzo), Joyce McLaughlin (Alvin), Annette Fraizer, and Patricia Jones; sons, Alonzo Cowles (Rose), Raymond Cowles (Jerrie), and Donald Cowles (Sharese); twenty-five grandchildren, forty-two great-grandchildren, and thirty great-great-grandchildren; a devoted niece, Ethel Woods; sisters-in-law, Joyce Piggott (Raymond) and Rosetta Bowman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Zion Baptist Church. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.  Mr. Frazier may be viewed in the church on Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the hour of his service.
