Our beloved sister, Rachel Ruth Chappell, was born on June 13, 1964, the daughter of the late Billy and Maria Chappell. She fell asleep in death on July 2, 2019, at the age of 55.
She was a beautiful person, inside and out. She loved poetry and books, but feeding herself spiritually on God’s Word, the Bible brought her the greatest comfort and inner strength. At the age of 12, she dedicated her life to Jehovah God. Rachel’s devotion to her God, Jehovah, and her strong faith in the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ, gave her firm hope. She was assured that the “last enemy”, death, will not have the final word since her hope of a future resurrection is sure. - 1 Cor 15:26; Job 14:14
Down to the very end, she enjoyed good food and drink, such as Thai and Indian food. However, Le Yaca was her favorite restaurant, a treat which she occasionally enjoyed with good friends.
She took pleasure in music and dance and was instrumental in bringing Karaoke to her friends in Williamsburg. She loved outdoor activities from tennis and basketball to apple picking or just sitting outside at a winery. Though she generally had a quiet and sometimes serious appearance, she truly was just the opposite, as many of her dear friends were able to see. She loved playing games and associating with people of all ages. It wasn’t unusual for her to entertain others with a joke, a riddle or a story. These are just some of the things that made her dearly loved.
She leaves to cherish fond memories with her sisters, Priscilla Myers (Perry) and Marlo Hladky (Joel); brothers, Bruce Chappell and Robin Chappell; a host of other relatives and friends.
All are welcome to attend a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2019, in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 5493 Mooretown Road, Williamsburg, Virginia. Interment to follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park. Ms. Chappell may be viewed on Saturday beginning at 12:00 noon until the hour of her service.
