Raheem "Remy" "Rah Rah" Fennell Obituary

Raheem DeVanté Fennell, 28, affectionately known as “Remy,” or “Rah Rah,” entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 15, 2021.  Fennell was a loving individual, caring family member, and devoted friend. Born on September 19, 1992, in Newport News, Virginia, Remy was the eldest child born to Michele Credle and Roland Fennell.

As a youth, Remy attended the New Testament Teaching Church of Christ of Newport News, volunteered with the Hampton Youth Commission, and later received a diploma in general education. Rah Rah had a bubbly personality, was very intelligent, innovative, fashionable, and had a passion to style hair! Remy attended the Virginia School of Hair Design in 2017 and applied for a city license to operate Boss Kreations. Working in several salons throughout the Hampton Roads area and traveling up and down the east coast to compete in hair shows, Fennell hoped to build a clientele and own a salon someday.

Rah Rah just wanted to be accepted by all and would not tolerate any disrespect. Raheem was a warrior who fought a good fight physically and spiritually! Remy made everyone feel loved with warm smiles and creative hairdos. Fennell could turn your pain into laughter even while carrying heavy burdens. A lasting impression was left with everyone Remy came in contact with.

Rah Rah was predeceased in death by grandfathers; James Jones, Dennis Credle, and Pastor William Stubbs.

Rah Rah leaves behind three sisters that were adored; Khiara Fennell, Blessing Credle, and Heaven Davis, three brothers that were treasured; Malik Fennell, Ernest Davis, and Cameron Davis, grandmothers; Linda Wright Credle Stubbs and Ruby Jean Fennell, five aunts; Angela Newman, Catherine Fennell, Dorothy Fennell, Shawnta Jones, and Christina Fennell, six uncles; James Wright, James Fennell, Antwan Jones, Deondre Jones, Andre Jones, and Larry Jones, and a host of great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins and many other relatives and friends that will cherish Remy’s memory forever.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 2021, in New Hope Baptist Church, Hampton.  Due to the current health pandemic, only 100 may be in attendance.  All CDC protocols will be observed with facial coverings and social distancing requirements.  Rah Rah may be viewed on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in New Hope Baptist Church.
