Reverend Harold Loatman Hines was born on August 12, 1943, son of the late Andrew Loatman and Fannie Hines Loatman, of Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
He attended Annie W. Holland Elementary School and graduated from the Caswell County Trade School, Yanceyville, North Carolina.
At an early age, he accepted Christ, was baptized and became a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. At the age of 15, Harold was called by God to preach the gospel and was licensed by Rev. J. C. Brown at Burtons Chapel Baptist Church, Yanceyville, North Carolina.
After finishing school, Rev. Hines returned to Rocky Mount, where he met Helen Wilkins, daughter of Sylvester and Mary Jane Wilkins of Enfield, North Carolina. On September 28, 1964, the two joined in Holy Matrimony. Unto this union, they were blessed with two children, Monique and Fabian.
In 1967, they moved to Williamsburg, Virginia and joined hands in fellowship with Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. J. B. Tabb.
He worked as a Room Service Attendant for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation; retiring after forty-one years of service.
He was preceded in death by his son, Fabian Hines; sister, Judy Stevenson; and brother, Frank Loatman. Fond memories will forever remain with his wife, Helen Hines; daughter, Monique Moore (David); granddaughter, Tyana Marquis Stone; great-grandchildren, Aiden Micah Stone and Amir Christopher Eric Stone; sister, Barbara Batts; brother, Douglas Robinson; a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.
