On Thursday, July 6, 2023, suddenly, and without a warning, God sent His Angels to summon home one of His children, Ricky Joe Williams, in Sarasota, FL. His life began on December 17, 1958, son of the late deacon Robert and deaconess Lucille B. Williams, in James City County, Virginia.
Being reared in a Christian home, Ricky was baptized and joined St. John Baptist Church at an early age, where he remained a member until his death. He was educated in the Williamsburg-James City County Public School system and later continued his education at Virginia State University. He was employed for many years with Canon and Cox Communications. Most recently, an advisor with GRASP at Point Option High School in Newport News, Virginia.
"Rick," as he was affectionately called, was always willing to help others. He loved playing tennis and operated a racket repair business. He also loved jazz and attended most of the Jazz Festivals in Richmond, VA. He enjoyed watching all sports and was a huge fan of the NY Giants football team.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, James Edward, Phillip, Harry, and twin brother, Ronnie Williams; and sister, Shirley Jones.
Ricky will be truly missed by his daughter, Simone Williams; son, Donald Lee; brother, Alonzo Williams; sister, Virginia Randolph; deacon Brady and deaconess Martha Graham, who loved him like a son; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and caring friends.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, July 22, 2023, at St. John Baptist Church. Livestream will be available at the beginning of the service. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. At the request of the family there will be no public viewing.
