Rita Mayo Obituary

On March 9, 2023, the good Lord called our beloved Rita Renae Mayo home for eternal rest.  She was born on September 11, 1968, the daughter of the late Margaret B. and Overton U. Mayo Sr. 

Rita loved to sing and touched many with her beautiful soprano voice and warm, loving smile. She also loved to travel and would extend a helping hand to those in need.  She will forever be remembered, respected, loved, and missed by all who know her.

Rita was also preceded in death by her brother, Lorton Mayo. She leaves to cherish fond memories five children, LaToya Mayo, Anthoney Mayo, Jermaine Teasley, Jasmine Teasley, and Jolisha Mayo; nine grandchildren whom she loves very much, AnTione Piggott Jr., LaSheera Piggott, NyJay Anderson, Josai Minkins, Ryan Minkins, Jaden Teasley, Aiden Mayo, Alani Mayo, and Bryson Richardson; three sisters, Wanda Mayo, Angela Mayo, and Lolita Patrick; three brothers, Overton U. Mayo Jr., John Mayo, and Milton Mayo; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

A memorial service to celebrate Rita's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Whiting's Funeral Home.
