Our loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Robert Allen Sr., has left an unerasable mark on our lives. On the evening of Wednesday, July 24, 2024, God saw fit to call his son to rest. Robert was born on April 23, 1943, to the late Kathryn Pretlow Allen and Ralph Allen (Abraham Segar) of Hampton, Va.
He was a native of Lackey, VA, and attended James Weldon Johnson High School. In his early years, he was joined in matrimony to the late Florence O. Allen.
He spent most of his life in Washington DC where he was fondly known for a hardworking, outgoing, loving, and humorous personality. He also was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses where he was able to give his talks. We will truly miss him, but we know that God’s will has been done.
He is preceded in death by his brothers Joseph T. Allen and Cleo Segar, sisters, Betty Allen, and Marie Waters. He is survived by his son, Pastor Robert Allen Jr.; four grandchildren, Tequila Crump, Dion Allen, Jovan Allen, and Joszef Allen; four great-grandchildren, Vincent Jr., Chloe, Mars, and Zen; two siblings, Joan Dancy and Sophia Carter; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at Noon on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Whiting's Funeral Home. Mr. Allen may be viewed on Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the time of his service in the funeral home.
