On Saturday, January 2, 2021, God called our beloved Robert Lee Graham to eternal rest. His life began on November 27, 1930, son to the late Fannie and John H. Graham, in Charles City, Virginia.
He was educated in the Charles City County Public Schools. At an early age, Robert accepted Christ as his personal Savior and joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Charles City, Virginia, where he fellowshipped until his health began to fail.
He was employed with the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation retiring after fifty years of service. After retirement, Robert became a personal caretaker for Mr. Wallace, a senior citizen in Williamsburg.
In Robert’s early days, he was known as “Bad News”, and enjoyed traveling with his children and best friend, dancing and playing bingo. During the latter months of his life, Robert required assistance with his personal care and always showed appreciation and gratitude towards others for assisting him. He would always say to everyone that “Ben Michael knows exactly how to put me in my van and take me to the doctor”. He truly loved his family and friends unconditionally.
Robert was predeceased by his brothers, George Graham and Napoleon Woodsen; sister, Lucy Mackey; and daughter, Devon Futrell. His precious memories will always be cherished by his three sons, Mitchell Graham and Nathan Graham, both of Charles City, Robert L. Graham, Jr (Tia) of Williamsburg; two daughters, Sandra Edmonson (Chester Sr.) and Aveda Sweet, both of Williamsburg; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; Sister, Marien Wallace of Charles City; devoted sister-in-law, Helen Graham; devoted nephew and caregiver, Ben Michael Jefferson; very special and devoted friend of more than twenty years, Doretha Tyler of Newport News, Virginia; and a host of other relatives and friends.
