Robert Mitchell Simpson was called to eternal rest on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, in Newport News, Virginia. He was born August 12, 1972, to Willie and Cynthia Simpson in James City County, Virginia. He attended York County Public Schools.

On July 17, 2021, Robert was united in Holy Matrimony to Lesley R. Tyler.

"Rob", as he was affectionately called, would best be described as a sweet and cool dude. He was also an avid sports enthusiast with the Dallas Cowboys being his favorite football team.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Willie and Martha Simpson; maternal grandparents, George and Frances Harper; and uncle, Thomas Harper

He leaves to cherish his fond memories his wife, Lesley R. Tyler-Simpson, mother, Cynthia Simpson; father, Willie Simpson (Judy); two daughters, Jasmine Jones and Alaijah Simpson; two stepdaughters, Shay’De and Whitney Tyler; three stepsons, Cord Tyler, Marcus Tyler (Shareeka), and Kashaun Tyler; three brothers, Freddie Harper, Dewayne Simpson, and Willie Simpson Jr.; one sister, Kimberlee Jones; two stepbrothers, Sam and Chris Elder; one stepsister Angela Holland; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Whiting's Funeral Home. Livestream will be available at the beginning of the service. Facial coverings are required.
