Robert Alexander Thornton was born on November 28, 1951, to the late Mary M. and Robert L. Thornton, in Williamsburg, Virginia. His assignment on Earth was completed on June 18, 2024, at Colonial Manor at Williamsburg.
Robert was raised in a Christian household and loved the Lord. He was educated in the Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools and later, served five years in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged on January 19, 1983.
Robert loved fishing and drawing. He was really passionate about playing the guitar and singing. His jovial personality and love of people will truly be remembered and missed.
Robert was also preceded in death by his siblings, Christine D. Davis, Mary L. Anderson, Catherine V. Wells, and Samuel Thornton.
Robert leaves to cherish fond memories, his sister Barbara Rodgers; brother Harry Thornton; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Colonial Manor at Williamsburg.
