Rowena Fauntleroy Obituary

Rowena L. Fauntleroy peacefully answered the Master's Call on Thursday, August 15, 2019, at home surrounded by family and friends. “Gina”, as she was affectionately known by her family and friends, was born on December 5, 1960, to the late Ruth Fay and Robert Lee Fauntleroy, Sr.

A life-long resident of Williamsburg, she was educated in the Williamsburg/James City County Public Schools; graduating from Lafayette High School in 1979.  She was employed by Food for Thought Restaurant for over ten years.

Gina had a true “heart of gold” and loved spending time with her family.  As a funny and give it to you straight type of person, she possessed such a special presence.  Those that knew her, will remember her for always making them laugh.  She cared for others more than she cared for herself.  She was always there to lend a helping hand to her family and friends.  Gina was an essential part of connecting her family and creating her own unique bond with each of them.  She was a loving sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend who will be greatly missed.

Gina was preceded in death by her grandparents, uncles, Earl Fauntleroy, John Fauntleroy, Otis Lee, and Lloyd Lee; aunts, Lillian Fauntleroy, Myrtle Fauntleroy, Gladys Harrold, Louise James and Peggy Rountree; brothers, Ross Carter (Buzzy) and Robert Fauntleroy, Jr.; and niece, Shannon Fauntleroy. She leaves cherished memories with her devoted siblings, Ruby Holmes, Robin Fauntleroy, Renal Fauntleroy, Russell Fauntleroy, Reginald Fauntleroy (Audrea) and Rickie Fauntleroy, Sr.; aunts, Novella Palmer (Robert), Mabel Barbour and Bernice Ortega (Angelo); special friends and classmates, Demetrye Harris and Sandra Darden; nieces and nephews, Arlana Fauntleroy, Regina Holmes, Crystal Fauntleroy, Eboni Bailey, Rashonda Cypress, April Taylor-Temple (John), Latia Piggott, Ciera Fauntleroy, Britain Brown, Ricky Fauntleroy, Larius Blount, Jr., Shawn Fauntleroy, Alex Hailey, Alvin Holmes, Jr., Bryan Epps, and Rickie Fauntleroy, Jr.; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 22, 2019, in Little Zion Baptist Church.  Interment to follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park.  Family and friends to assemble at the church by 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. Ms. Fauntleroy may be viewed beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the hour of her service on Thursday.  In lieu of flowers, monetary donations are welcomed to assist with arrangements.  Cards or donations may be brought or mailed to The family of Rowena Fauntleroy, 114 Theodore Allen Rd., Williamsburg, VA 23188.
