SFC (Retired) George Henry Robinson aka “Pete”, son of the late Eva Booker and George Linwood Robinson was born on May 16, 1947, in Amelia, Virginia. On Friday, November 8, 2024, “Pete” entered eternal life.
He was educated in the Amelia Public School System. He proudly served in the United States Army with exemplary service including the Vietnam Era, tours in Korea, Desert Storm, and Azores, Portugal. He also diligently worked for Medical Transportation Services and CHKD Oyster Point Newport News where he was affectionately known as the comforting grandpa with a smile.
In addition to his parents, a brother, Freddie Robinson, and nephew, Ryan Robinson, preceded him in death.
Those who shall forever cherish his memory are his wife, Gladys Robinson of Newport News, VA; daughter and caregiver, Tawanna Robinson of Newport News, VA and Tanya Robinson of Suffolk, VA; son Jamie Robinson (Angie) of Newport News, VA; ten devoted grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; brothers, Mack Robinson (Elsie), Lloyd Robinson (Shanta) and Tony Robinson; sister Susie Bland (Graham); sisters-in-law, Marcia Anderson and Rev. Dr. Myrtle Dobson (Tracy); brothers-in-law, George Williams, John Royall, and Nelson Royall (Irma); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
A funeral service to celebrate George's life will be held at Noon on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Colossian Baptist Church, with full military honors being rendered. "Pete" may be viewed on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
