Samuel DeWayne Moore Sr. embarked on his eternal journey on Monday, May 1, 2023. He was born on March 10, 1959, to the late Samuel E. and Velma Geraldine Moore in Williamsburg, Virginia. He was also preceded in death by his older brother, Lemuel Bowden Redcross.
Sam grew up in Newport News and graduated from Menchville High School before joining the United States Air Force. It could be said that he had an entrepreneurial spirit. After the Air Force, Sam worked in the fields of real estate, insurance sales, and truck driving. He also worked as a machinist for Siemens and Canon.
He loved cars; from building model cars as a boy to tinkering with his own cars to truck driving, Sam was constantly on the move, driving trucks for more than twenty-five years. During his downtime he enjoyed connecting with friends and listening to a good sermon. Shooting pool was also among his loves outside of his children and grandchildren.
With fond and loving memories, he leaves his two children, Tyesha Moore and Samuel DeWayne Moore II (Amy); three grandchildren, Samuel, John, and Daniel; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and cherished friends.
