Sandra Jimmison Obituary

Sandra Denise Cowles was born on July 21, 1961, daughter of the late Earnest P Cowles and Mabel Orene Taylor.  After her parent’s passing, Sandra was raised by her sister and her husband, Alice and Alexander Frazier Sr.  On Sunday, June 5, 2022, she was called home to heaven for her eternal rest.

She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at a young age and was baptized at Zion Baptist Church in Lightfoot.  Later in life, she became a member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church.

As a lifelong resident of Williamsburg, VA, Sandra graduated from Lafayette High School in 1979.  She most recently worked as a Personal Care Assistant, though she was a woman of many talents and held a variety of jobs during her life.

Sandra had many names: Sexy Sandra, Sandra D., and Skip being the most notable.  She had a giving spirit and was always an active member in her community.  While living in Burton Woods, she was the neighborhood association president and organized various programs and events.  She was a great friend and confidant and loved having chat sessions with friends, family, or anyone who stopped by.  She loved to talk but was also a great listener.

In addition to listening to her friends, she also loved listening to music.  Her car was filled with The Temptations, Oldies but Goodies, and Gospel CDs.  She was notorious for her scrapbooking.  She loved to collect pictures and created collages for her loved ones.  She also collected souvenir spoons and proudly displayed her collection of spoons from all over the world.

She was a natural caretaker; her greatest passions were her two sons, Eric and Sherod.  She was a loving mother and devoted grandmother to her two grandchildren, John and Grace, and an honorary mom and grandmother to countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Berta Jones, Gloria Tillery, Alice Frazier, and Evelyn Thompson, and brothers, Earnest Jr. and Caron Cowles.  Her memories will forever be cherished by her children, Eric Jimmison (Jenny), Sherod Jimmison, and Amore Brown; grandchildren, John and Grace Jimmison; siblings, Jackie Jones, Phillip Parker (Sharon), Ronnie Cowles, and Alex Frazier Jr.; fiancé, Nathanial Brown; devoted friends, Delphine Bartlett, Wilnette Brooks, Melissa Phillips, and Maude Ashby; nieces and nephews, Carlene, Francis, Renarda (Monchello), Alexis, Ashley, Renika, Alexa, Ronald Lee, Anthony, Eric, David, Keith, Malik, and Jada;  and countless cousins, grand-nieces, grand-nephews whom she all loved to pieces.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Bethel Restoration Center.  Livestream will be available at the beginning of the service.  Interment to follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park.  Ms. Jimmison may be viewed on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the hour of her service in the church.  Facial coverings are required.
