Sarah Isabell Moore Smith peacefully entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 20, 2020, in Queens, New York, with her daughter Lorri and grandson Ben by her side. She was born on October 12, 1925, in James City County Virginia to the late William Henry Moore and Sarah Dandridge Moore.
Sarah attended Bruton Heights School. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a devoted member of Zion Baptist Church until her health began to decline.
Sarah has lived in Boston and New York. She was married to the late Nelson Smith. “Isabell” as she was called, was a homemaker, with a pleasant demeanor, and was caring and kind to those who knew her. She was also a caregiver to children of many friends and family members, and a beautician to others. In addition to family and friends, neighbors visited Isabell’s home frequently, where she loved preparing hot meals for them. She became known for her famous home-made rice pudding, potato salad, and sweet potato pie. Her presence will be deeply missed. We know that our loss of an angel is heavens gain, and we have faith in God that we will meet her again.
