Sherman Eugene Piggott, a longtime resident of Toano, VA passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, December 8, 2021. God knows best and granted him victory over his battle with cancer for his heavenly reward. He was born on June 2, 1946, to Winfield Curtis Piggott and Fraudie Mae Piggott.
Sherman served in the Vietnam War and was awarded a purple heart and bronze medal. He retired from CSX railroad after thirty-six years of employment as a track inspector. He loved to cook and spend time with his family. Sherman is best known for his ability to bring calmness to all those in his presence. His infectious smile could turn a bad situation into a positive one.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Walter, Gaynell, John Willis, Roberta, and Judy; and stepson, Shawn Brooks.
He is survived by his wife of thirty years, Desiree B. Piggott; son, Corey Piggott (E’Dwina); daughter, Missy Piggott; stepsons, Antonio Brooks and Brandon Brooks; stepdaughters, Sakina Graves (Ernest) and Sheree Brooks; siblings, Leslie Piggott, Virginia Piggott, Bert Piggott (Betty), Curtis Piggott, and Arthur Piggott; sixteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild; special friends, Richard Gardner and Kirk James; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at Bethel Restoration Center. Live stream will be available at the start of the service. Interment to follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park. Facial coverings are required. At the request of the family, there will be no public viewing for Mr. Piggott.
