ShiQuita Fields, affectionally known as “Quita,” was born on May 4, 1975, to the late Elwood and Alice Faye Fields. Soon after the passing of her mother Alice, she was then taken under the wing of her late Aunt/Mother Mary L. Welsh.
Quita was a native of Yorktown, Virginia, where she attended York High School and graduated.
Quita was a mother, daughter, sister, friend, and survivor. Most importantly, she was a survivor who fought until the end. Nothing could stop her hustle, NOTHING! Straight from chemo to work, she went. She loved everyone, and everyone surely loved her. She touched many throughout her life’s journey by just a simple conversation. The simplest things in life she enjoyed.
Quita loved attending social events, playing cards, and sports when she had free time. We all knew our girl kept a fresh pair of kicks, one of her favorite things to do was shoe shopping.
When it came to Quita’s children, she did not play! As a single mother, she did a great job raising her children and made sure they didn’t want for anything. She loved supporting her children’s future endeavors. She was one of a kind and the most genuine mother and friend you could ask for.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Valerie Fields and Judy Fields, and her brothers, Eugene Welsh and Orlando Welsh.
Loved by many, Quita leaves to cherish her precious memories with her four children, ShaKura Fields, Brazon Fields, Asana Fields, and Willie Green; one grandchild, Yah’Cir Huggins; siblings, Sonja Stamp (James), Elwood Fields (Melinda), Alvester Fields, Eddie Dixon, Reginald Fields, Frederick Fields, Kelly Brown, James Walker, Lisa Dixon, Darlene Saunders, Cynthia Taylor, Anthony Welsh (Juanita), Gary Welsh, and Karen Smith (James); her only living aunt, Rosa Lee Turner; one godchild, Nathaniel Caddle Jr. (CJ); and a host of nieces, nephews cousins, adopted children, close and best friends.
A Celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Transformation Life Church. Ms. Fields may be viewed on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Facial coverings are required.
