Steven O'Brian Coles-Taliaferro

Our beloved Steven O’Brian Coles-Taliaferro started his earthly journey on December 14, 1984.  The Lord in His infinite wisdom called him to eternal rest on Friday, October 16, 2021. He was born in Newport News VA to Deetta C. Coles and Marlon R. Taliaferro Sr.

Steven accepted the Lord as his Personal Savior and was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church, Yorktown.  He later started attending Faith Baptist Church where he worshiped until his health began to decline.

He graduated from Denbigh High School in 2003 and attended Hampton University for two years studying Aviation. 

Steven was a free-spirited and intelligent young man with a lot of drive. He loved the Lord and his family also his extended family with a special bond with his niece Sable and nephew JoJo.

Steven was predeceased by his grandmothers, Mary Coles Smith and Joan Anderson; and uncles, Steven Coles and Stanley Smith.

Steven leaves to cherish his fond memories his mother, Deetta C. Coles; father, Marlon R. Taliaferro Sr.; three sisters, Shawnice D. Coles, Michelle Robinson (Lamont), and Nanniesha Taliaferro; brother, Marlon R. Taliaferro Jr. (Laura); two aunts, Rita D. Allen (Peter) and Renee Davis; three uncles, Elwood Coles, Edward Coles, and Gregory Smith (Laura); four great aunts, Glinner Lee Saunders, Celestine Fields, Bertha Catum, and Helen Mitchell; six nephews; eight nieces; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, October 23, 2021, in Whiting’s Funeral Home.  Livestream will be available at the beginning of the service.  Mr. Coles-Taliaferro may be viewed beginning at 3:00 p.m. until the hour of his service on Saturday.  Facial coverings are required for all services.
