Sylvia Marie (Reynolds) Williams

Sylvia Marie Williams (Reynolds) was called to her heavenly home on November 29, 2024. She was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on December 12, 1964, the second daughter of SMSgt (Ret) and Mrs. James T. Reynolds, Sr.

Sylvia attended Denbigh High School, graduating in 1983. While in high school, she assisted with programs for individuals with disabilities and served as a Candy Striper.  She continued her education at Thomas Nelson Community College for two years, where she studied the exploration of medicine. Her special heart for those in need and her passion for helping others led her to become a nurse’s aide and a caregiver for adults with disabilities, and a Chaplain for Sentara Hospital.

Sylvia was a member of New Beech Grove Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as a Deaconess, Pastor’s Aide, and Missionary. She also served in the Health Ministry and volunteered for the Clothing Closet. Sylvia was devoted to feeding the homeless through her church and on her own accord and encouraging others through Christ.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her son Daron T. Williams, her father, SMSgt (Ret) Mr. James T. Reynolds, Sr., and her brothers, James T. Reynolds, Jr., Marcus Reynolds, and Quinton Reynolds.

Sylvia leaves to cherish her memories her daughter Ashanti’ Williams; granddaughter Amarie Barrow; mother Mrs. James T. Reynolds, Sr.; two sisters, Gwen Johnson (Dewitt) and Danielle Faison; uncle Willie Raynor; a host of nieces and nephews to include, Justin L. Edwards, Sr. (Chameeker), Candace Helder (Steven), Ri’Chard Alston, Darius Faison, and Joshua Faison; two great nephews, Justin L. Edwards, Jr. and Justice L. Edwards; as well as cousins and an abundance of friends.

A funeral service to celebrate Sylvia's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 7, 2024, at New Beech Grove Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens. Ms. Williams may be viewed on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the church.
