Terry E. Johnson

Terry E. Johnson of Williamsburg, VA, peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, with his devoted son TJay by his side.  Terry was a devoted son, father, partner, and friend.

Terry was raised in a Christian home and was a member of New Quarter Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee.  He graduated from York High School.  After graduating high school, he took on a career with Eastern State Hospital, retiring after twenty-seven years of service.

Terry expressed his love to others through humor, acts of service, and by capturing many precious moments with his photography skills. If a friend or family member needed assistance with a repair or home improvement project, they could rely on Terry. In his free time, he enjoyed listening to jazz music, watching movies, and engaging in friendly competitions with his beloved son TJay.  He enjoyed working alongside his Uncle Robert "Boose" completing renovation projects. He treasured his parents and served as their primary caretaker in their later years, ensuring they were treated with dignity, respect, and love during their health challenges. His quick wit and sense of humor would trigger laughter from others while he maintained a straight face. He had a special grin and chuckle that would entice a smile out of anyone he encountered.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Norma Johnson, and special aunt Eva Wormley.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his sons, Terry Jay and Sean Avery; grandson Avery; great-aunt Della Russell; aunt Barbara Washington; uncles, Leonard Johnson (Cheryl), Robert Johnson, Sr (Marjorie), and Robert Wormley; longtime girlfriend Pam Pagaduan; and a host of other loving relatives, church family members, and caring friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at noon on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, with Pastor Edward Christian officiating. Interment to follow in New Quarter Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Johnson may be viewed on Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the church.
