On the morning of Monday, April 4, 2022, God sent His angels to Riverside Regional Medical Center to bring His beloved son, Terry Tyrone Swinton home for eternal rest. His earthly journey began on August 9, 1971, the son of Lona Swinton and the late James Swinton Sr. of Yorktown, Va.
Terry, lovingly known as Tyrone, was educated through the York County Public School system where he grew up with his parents and four siblings.
Tyrone was a valued member of The Warwick Restaurant staff where he did what he loved to do, cook! He will be remembered for his love of cars and his time behind the grill, both at work and at social gatherings.
Tyrone valued his family and friends alike. He had a jovial spirit that brought light, laughter, and a good time to those that had the honor of being in his presence. He took every opportunity to celebrate the little things in life. Now we are taking this opportunity not only to remember the incredible person he was but to celebrate the life God so graciously allowed us to be a part of.
Tyrone is preceded in death by his father, James Swinton Sr.; brother, Lashon Swinton; nephew, Jashon Swinton; and both paternal and maternal grandparents.
He leaves to cherish his memory through his significant other, Ali Jerks; loving mother, Lona Swinton of Yorktown, Va; sister, Rena Swinton; brothers, James Swinton Jr. (Linda) and Michael Swinton; nephews, Eric Swinton, Derrick Swinton, Markeith Douglas, Lathaniel Parker III, and James Swinton III; nieces, Cherrelle Parker and Jasmine Swinton; two great-nephews; two great-nieces; and host of other loving relatives and devoted friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, April 11, 2022, at Whiting’s Funeral Home. Livestream will be available at the beginning of the service. Interment to follow at the Masonic Burial Grounds, Yorktown, Va. Tyrone may be viewed on Monday beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the hour of his service in the funeral home. The Swinton family will receive family and friends immediately after at Charles E. Brown Park. Facial coverings are required at all services.
