Thaddeus Lightfoot answered the Master’s call on Monday, July 31, 2023. His life began on February 8, 1957, the son of the late Clarence and Mattie Lightfoot of Toano, Virginia.
Early in life, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and recently re-dedicated his life to Christ.
Thaddeus proudly served in the Army from September 3, 1976, until he was Honorably Discharged on April 24, 1989, as a Specialist Quarter Master Chemical Equipment Repairer. Thaddeus received several decorations, medals, badges, and ribbons including The Army Achievement Medal, Army Lapel Button, M1S Expert Badge, Army Good Conduct, Army Service Ribbon, Over Seas Service Ribbon, and the Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon to name a few.
"Peter," as he was known to his family members and close friends, took pride in his daughter, Lajoy Lightfoot, as he was always eager to see her when she visited Virginia and enjoyed spending time with her. He also enjoyed spoiling his great-nephews, Zayvion Dickson, Zamier Johnson, and great-niece, Za’Miyah Johnson. They all knew when Peter came, he had a big bag of candy waiting for them. Although Peter didn’t have any grandkids, he took Camiyah Wade "Fat Cat" as his very own granddaughter; and she loved her Papa too.
Thaddeus is preceded in death by his brother, James Lightfoot Sr.; sisters, Mattline Taylor and Brenda Lightfoot; sister-in-law, Willa Lightfoot; uncle, Clarence Wesley Lee; and great-nephew, Michael Lightfoot. Thaddeus leaves to cherish and treasure his blessed memories his daughter, Lajoy Lightfoot; brothers, Clarence Jones (Kimberlee) and Kelly Jones (Vickie); fiancée, Kimberly Cooke; aunt, Elnora Brown; uncle, John Lee Sr. (Levonia); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Whiting’s Funeral Home. Mr. Lightfoot may be viewed on Saturday from 3:00 p.m. until the hour of his service in the funeral home.
