Theodore Douglas Parsons Sr., 93, of Williamsburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, one day shy of his 94th birthday. He was surrounded by his family, who loved him dearly.
“Douglas,” as he was affectionately known, was born on September 23, 1931, in Williamsburg, Virginia, to Sadie and Raymond Parsons. He graduated from Bruton Heights School in 1948. He met his bride, Ann Mills, in New York, where they married in 1950. In his early years, he held several positions within the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and the York County School Division. Douglas went on to proudly serve his country as a civil servant through his work in the Ordinance Department at the Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown, Virginia, a fact that he held in high regard. He had a long, dedicated career that spanned over 30 years.
Douglas had a deep love for his community and took great pride in living the majority of his life in Williamsburg. He was a giving man who was often concerned about the needs of others. He never met a stranger, giving generously to those in need. He was committed to his community and always ready to lend a helping hand. He was a man of many talents — from repairing and rebuilding cars, plumbing, HVAC, and drywall work. Known for his fun-loving spirit, quick wit, and gift for storytelling, he had a way of making everyone around him smile. He would often remind us that “The sun always shines on Penniman Road”. His memory will live on as a reminder of the warmth, joy, and love he brought to those who knew him.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann Mills Parsons; his son, Theodore “Buster” Parsons Jr.; and his brother, John T. Parsons Sr. Left to cherish his memory are his loving daughters, Margo Bell, Stephanie Stoutingberg (LeRoy), and Beverly Price (Frank); his brother, Oscar Parsons and sister-in-law Mildred Parsons; brother-in-law, Kenneth Mills (Marva); his grandchildren, Shellie Pascucci, C. Tod Bell, Channing Jones, Brandon Price, Justin Price, and Brionna McCollum; seventeen great-grandchildren; twenty-five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended relatives and many dear friends.
A service to celebrate Douglas's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 29, 2025, at St. John Baptist Church, with a viewing beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the church. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
