As the sun rises and sets, so did the life of Tyana Marquis Stone at the age of 31 on June 29, 2024, in Kennesaw, Georgia. She danced through existence like a butterfly, leaving behind a trail of beauty and wonder.
Tyana was born on March 29, 1993, in Marietta, Georgia, to Christopher Stone and Monique Hines Stone. An exceptional student, she thrived on challenges during her school years. Tyana was always so shy growing up, but she loved transforming from a timid ballet student during rehearsals to a dazzling superstar on stage! While attending Etowah High School, she played the oboe for four years and earned a scholarship. She graduated with honors in 2011. Tyana’s aptitude for technology was rewarded when she was accepted into the Women in Technology (WIT) Single Mothers’ Program, sponsored by the Warwick Dunn Foundation. She completed this program at Emory University with an emphasis in Cybersecurity. It was through this program that Tyana was hired by Equifax and promoted to Scrum Master. The key skills and qualities needed to excel as a Scrum Master include leadership, effective communication, problem-solving, technical knowledge, coaching, and mentoring. Tyana proved to be an outstanding leader. The Black Organization for Leveraging Differences (BOLD) supported Equifax employee resource groups, and Tyana played an integral role in the Cultural Committee. One of BOLD’s goals is to celebrate every individual’s uniqueness, and Tyana was truly unique. She willingly volunteered for back-office roles, ensuring the team ran smoothly. We affectionately called Tyana our “quiet storm.” During one of our Black History Months, she single-handedly created and maintained the Black History Month Knowledge Nugget Website. There was never a task too big or effort too much for Tyana; she always embraced challenges with a smile.
Tyana lived her life committed to preparing her young sons, Aiden and Amir, to be loving, intelligent, and humble. Her foundation was rooted in a healthy tree bearing good fruit. She inherited a rich legacy, and her family was blessed to witness her love, joy, kindness, and goodness during her precious life. Scientists have studied and agreed that there’s something very special about the mother-daughter bond. Tyana and her mother, Monique, were the perfect model of that relationship—they not only talked every day but all day! They truly were best friends.
Butterflies symbolize hope and resurrection. It’s no wonder that Tyana had such a love for them. Just as a caterpillar transitions to a butterfly, we, too, have victory over death and hope in eternal life. Now you are free, Tyana.
Waiting to receive her are her grandfathers: Reverend Harold L. Hines and the Honorable William T. Stone Sr.; and her uncle, Fabian Hines.
She will be forever loved by her boys, Aiden Micah Stone and Amir Christopher-Eric Stone; parents, Monique & David Moore and Christopher & Alicia Stone; siblings, Harmony Stone and Jaylen Stone; grandparents, Helen Hines, Sara Stone, and Gloria & Bobby Sasberry; aunts, uncles; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Noon on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Life Church. There will be a social hour with light refreshments from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. where the family will receive friends during that time.
