Van “Ricky” Nathaniel Allen departed this life to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 18, 2024. He was born on August 14, 1959, in the Brownsville neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, to the late Matilda and Admiral Van Allen.
He attended public schools in New York and upon graduating from high school he joined the United States Marine Corp. He later moved to Williamsburg, Virginia to be with his family, and was employed in Chesterfield, Virginia as a cook.
Ricky was a loving and caring brother who loved his family. He was always very friendly and loved helping people. He also loved the Dallas Cowboys. We will always remember him as our big brother with lots of love and wonderful memories growing up that will always be in our hearts.
He was preceded in death by his sister Michelle Allen-Randall.
Ricky is survived by three sisters, Sheila Harris, Bridgette Harris, and Kimberly Allen; aunts, Marjorie Crew and Bertha Crew; and a host of loving and caring relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Whiting's Funeral Home. Mr. Allen may be viewed on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of his service in the funeral home.
