Veola Marguerite Pressey Minns, was born on November 26, 1934, to the late James and Mattie Pressey, of James City County, Virginia. She was one of ten children born to this union. Her earthly journey changed to eternal rest on Saturday, October 24, 2020.
"Bollie", as she was affectionately called, professed her love for Christ at an early age. She was baptized and joined Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Williamsburg, Virginia. After marrying Harold Robert Minns, she joined Jerusalem Baptist Church, Charles City, Virginia, where she was an active member of the Choir until her health prevented her from doing so.
She loved spending time with her grandkids. From her days as a youth, she loved basketball and softball. Her loving smile and gentle demeanor will forever be missed.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Robert Minns; son, Don Lee Minns; granddaughter, Valencia Brown; siblings, Bernice Saunders (Lloyd), James Pressey (Virginia), Pernell Pressey (Mary), Joe Pressey (Daisy), Edgar Pressey, Vertee Pressey (Alice), Eunice Darden and Mary E. Pressey; a devoted sister-in-law, Mary Woodley; son-in-law, Rodney Bradby.
She leaves fond memories with her children, Jarvis Pressey (Christine), Marguerite Brown (Charlie), Marvin Pressey, Lynn Delaney (Michael), Robin Bradby, Darlene White (Harmon), Milton Minns (Ramona), and Clinton Minns; sixteen grandchildren and one cherished grandchild, Ryan White; six great-grandchildren; brother, Sherman Pressey (Irene); a devoted sister-in-law, Mattie Phillips; close friends, First Lady Charmaine Ellis and Raye Foster; a devoted niece, Ida Brown (Charles); devoted nephew, William Saunders (Charlotte); and a host of other nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 31, 2020, in Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery. Face coverings and social distancing are required. You may bring your own lawn chairs if you prefer. Mrs. Minns may be viewed on Friday between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
