Our beloved Virginia Francis Canady was called home for eternal rest by her Heavenly Father on Thursday, July 10, 2025, in her home. Her life began on July 9, 1934, the daughter of the late George Robinson Sr. and Mamie Harvey Robinson, in Rustburg, Virginia.
Virginia was educated in Rustburg, VA. At an early age, she became a member of First St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Rustburg, VA. She worked in dining services at the College of William & Mary for ten years, and she continued living life as a Homemaker.
Virginia was a kind and loving person. She loved playing spades, deuces, and drinking her coffee that she shared with her grandkids. She would not want us to mourn her passing but to rejoice in her memories.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Donald L. Canady; daughters, Jeanette and Carol; sisters, Margaret, Nita, Carrie, Rebecca, Gertrude, and Anna; and brothers, George Jr. and Joseph.
Her precious memories will always live in the hearts of her sons, Lacy Jr. (Marie), Barry (Connie), Mike Sr. (Linda), Antoine Sr. (LaShawn), Ronald (Latasha), and Larry; daughters, Joyce (Rob), Lillian, Mammie, and Trina; her golden sister Louise; grandchildren, Mike Jr., Jamie, Rob, Perry, Avonta, Donta, Antoine Jr., Tina, Katrina, Angel, Antoinette, Aaliyah, and Shavonne; great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins; and a host of other loving relatives and many caring friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Whiting’s Funeral Home, with a viewing beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park.
