Wayne Lamar Davis, peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at his home in Williamsburg, VA with his loving former wife & friend, Casandra Richardson and cousin/caregiver, Orelia “Byrd” Seldon by his side. He was born on May 30, 1965, to the late Wilber and Ethel Davis.
At an early age, Wayne dedicated his life to Christ and recently rededicated himself with full repentance.
Wayne served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged after four years of service. He later worked as a Check Point Security Guard for the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry for four years and as a Loss Prevention Officer for the Walmart Distribution Center for over ten years. Wayne was a hard worker who worked two jobs to ensure his family had everything they needed.
Wayne truly lived life to the fullest. Anyone who met Wayne immediately loved him and enjoyed his sense of humor. Wayne's favorite colors are black and gold because of his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers football team. Often you could find Wayne either cooking on the grill or at the beach watching the waves while enjoying a cold brewski with a long straw.
Wayne is also preceded in death by his sister, Kristin “Tweety” Davis; aunt, Orene Corbette; and his beloved cousin, Melinda “Linda” Seldon. He leaves to cherish his fond memories two sons, Jordan A Davis and Deon D Davis; two brothers, Walter Davis and Lindsey Davis; two aunts, Cecelia Johnson and Shirley Wallace (Lloyd); former wife and friend, Casandra Richardson; mother and father-in-law, Allen and Retha Richardson; brother-in-law, Allen S. Richardson (Sherlita); sisters-in-law, Renata Richardson and Donna Richardson; and a host of other family members and close friends.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Whiting’s Funeral Homes. Family and friends are to assemble at the funeral home by 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
