Wayne Conrad Moore Sr. peacefully answered the Master’s call on June 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Wayne was born on December 19, 1952, to the late Russell and Geraldine Moore in Williamsburg, Virginia. He was the eldest of four children.
At an early age, he confessed Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and joined Zion Baptist Church in Lightfoot, Virginia. Later, he transferred his membership to Calvary Chapel in Newport News, VA, where he was a devoted and faithful servant until his health began to fail.
He was educated in the Williamsburg-James City County school system and graduated from James Blair in Williamsburg, Virginia, in the class of 1971. In his younger years, he worked for Big Star Grocery Store, then later TastyCake. He worked for Wonderbread until they declared bankruptcy in 2012, then worked for a short period of time as a night stocker for Food Lion before retiring at the age of 62.
Wayne had a kind, gentle soul. He lit up any room with his infectious smile. His laugh was unmatched. He also loved his family. He started working early and afforded the family’s first telephone, which was a party line. Wayne was also an avid Miami Dolphins fan. He loved watching football!
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Geraldine (Cowles) Moore and Russell Moore; his beloved sister, Jeanette Taylor; and his beloved brother, Donald Moore, Sr.
He leaves cherished memories with his devoted wife and caregiver of thirty-three years, Marilyn C. Moore; his children, Troy Morton (Victoria) and Kristie Moore, all of Williamsburg, VA, and Wayne Moore, Jr. of Las Vegas, NV; his bonus children, Kathy Roache of Newport News, VA and Kendall James (Vicki) of Williamsburg, VA; brother, Thomas Moore (Patricia); uncle, John Edward Moore of Williamsburg, VA; aunt, Cora Cowles of Williamsburg, VA; along with grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
A service to celebrate Wayne's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2026, at Calvary Chapel Newport News. Interment to follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park. Mr. Moore may be viewed in the church from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Friday.
