Wendelin “Wendy” Muse, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2024. She was born on October 29, 1956, to the late John and Lillian Smalls.
She graduated from Simon Gratz High School in Philadelphia, PA. At the age of nine, Wendy was baptized at Zion Baptist Church in Philadelphia, Pa., under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Lion H. Sullivan. Wendy was an active member of St. John Baptist Church - Williamsburg until her health began to fail. On February 3, 2019, Wendy was ordained as an associate minister. She also served in the Culinary Ministry, Gospel Chorus, Nursery Ministry, and as a Sunday school teacher.
Wendy provided in-home daycare services for several years. She was previously employed as a housekeeper at the King William Inn; manager at the Pecan Factory at the Williamsburg Pottery; and as a customer service representative at the DAV Thrift Store.
In addition to her parents, Wendy was preceded in death by her daughter Nichole A. Muse; brothers, Laverne Smalls, Samuel Ray Smalls, and Selwyn Smalls; and brothers-in-law, Abdul Hunter and George Richardson.
She leaves precious memories with her husband Thomas G. Muse III; children, Thomas G. Muse IV (LaKisha), Yvonne R. Muse-Redcross (Rivera), and Maurice N. Muse (Hiliary); brothers, John D. Smalls (Edith), Gilbert Smalls (Naomi), Wilbert Smalls, and Antonio Smalls (Gail); sister Gwendolyn Richardson; eight grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; along with a host of friends.
A service to celebrate Minster Muse's life will be held at noon on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at St. John Baptist Church with Dr. Carlon Lassiter officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Muse may be viewed on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the hour of her service in the church.
