Wesley Kearney Obituary

Our beloved, Wesley Alexander Kearney, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Friday, November 25, 2022, at his home in Williamsburg Virginia surrounded by his family. Wesley was born in Warrenton NC on June 17, 1943, to the late Richard George and Fannie (Green) Kearney. He was the sixth child of seven.

At an early age, Wesley was baptized and joined Spring Green Baptist Church. He attended Warren County Public School System graduating from the 1961 class of John R. Hawkins High School. Later that year, he relocated to Englewood, NJ, where he began working in the auto industry with his brother James who owned and operated Kearney's Auto Body. In 1964 Wesley married the love of his life of 57 years, Jean Marie Mcfarland. To this union, one son Sean Alexander was born. Wesley continued to work in the auto industry and soon purchased Kearney's Auto Body from his brother James who relocated to Williamsburg VA. In 1988 Wesley Joined AMICA Mutual Insurance Company as an auto claims adjuster and advanced his career to become the Regional Auto Claims Supervisor. In that capacity, he was responsible for overseeing the Richmond, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New Jersey Offices. In 2007 he retired from AMICA with over 25 years of service.

In 2009 Wesley and Jean moved to Williamsburg, VA to enjoy the retired life and fulfill his dreams of living on a Golf Course.  He often heckled other golfers when he wasn't playing from his deck.

Wesley was a sports enthusiast beginning in high school when he played on the basketball team. He loved baseball and also became an avid bowler. Along with his brother-in-law, Andy, and good friend Bubba they traveled and attended many NFL Super Bowls. His latest love became watching and playing golf. He tried to play on every course in the areas he visited and in tournaments abroad ranging from New York to Florida. Wesley often played in several tournaments with his son Sean and close friends.

All of his golf buddies, Alfred, Earnest, George, Curtis, Hurshel, Vernon, and many others, are waiting to tee off with him on the heavenly golf courses.  James will be in the rough hiding, collecting all the lost balls they hit Out of Bounds.

He was a great husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend.  We cherish the memories and time we spent together and wish we could hear him tell one more Joke. We Love you, Wesley.

Wesley was also predeceased by his sister, Helen Elizabeth Perry; and brothers, George Richard (Roy) Kearney, Willis Mansfield Kearney, James Ashley Kearney, and Alfred Kearney.

Wesley is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Jean; son, Sean (Gwen); grandson, Brandon; sister, Nannie Kearney-Moore; sisters-in-law, Ruth Kearney, Lela Dow, Willa McFarland and Lois (Robert) Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
