William H. Banks Sr., 81 of Seaford, VA, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 24, 2024.
A lifelong resident of York County, William was a graduate of James Weldon Johnson High School Class of 1961. He was a long-time member of Grafton Baptist Church, Harris Grove where he served in the Men's Choir as well as with the Inspirational Choir.
William was married to the love of his life, Christine, for fifty-six years until her passing. This union was blessed with two children, William H. Banks Jr. and Rochelle Y. Banks.
William was employed with the York County School Division, where he retired after twenty-five-plus years of service.
William enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family and friends. He could always be found working in his garden or out fishing with family and friends. William was a good man, selfless, loving and kind-hearted. He was truly loved and will be greatly missed.
William was predeceased by his wife Christine, his parents Samuel and Eleanor and brother, Hermon. He is survived by his 2 children, William H. Banks Jr. and Rochelle Y. Banks and the joy of his life, his grandson, Shamarr W. Reed. He also leaves to cherish his memory sisters, Isa Banks and Genevieve Randall and brother, Kenneth Banks(Deborah), along with a host of family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at Noon on Monday, June 3, 2024, at Grafton Baptist Church Harris Grove. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Banks may be viewed on Monday beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the church.
